New Exhibition by Letícia Ramos about Exploring the paths of imagination: “Campo Magnético”
Opens on May 2nd at the Exhibition Room of School of Arts in Porto
The Exhibition Room of the School of Arts of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto opens its doors to the inauguration of “Campo Magnético”, the most recent exhibition by Brazilian artist Letícia Ramos.
In this exhibition, the artist-scientist delves into the depths of the relationship between geological and climatic phenomena and the impact they can have on the imagination. The inauguration will take place on May 2nd, at 7 pm, at the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium, with a performance by Letícia Ramos Films and Banda Sonora Original and Foley ao Vivo, starring Rossano Snel, with the participation of the Supernova Ensemble.
“In this exhibition, we are taken on an extraordinary journey where the limits that separate science, art and imagination cease to exist. Letícia Ramos’ work is a celebration of human creativity and demonstrates the role that art plays in understanding the world around us,” says Nuno Crespo, curator of this exhibition and director of the School of Arts at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Letícia Ramos builds visual landscapes that travel between the past and the future. In a rigorous investigation of the analogue photographic medium, she uses sculpture, models and special effects techniques to create imaginary landscapes, narratives and fables that come to fruition in photographs, film and installation.
The artist uses natural elements and optical effects as metaphors or symbols to represent concepts related to politics, science and imagination. The elements of nature are used as transmitters of ideas where there is an overlap between the past and the future. The temporal overlap is represented in different ways, reflecting the continuity of history.

The official inauguration of “Campo Magnético” will take place at the Escola das Artes Exhibition Room. Furthermore, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a DJ set in collaboration with the Escola das Artes Student Association, starting at 8 pm, at Pátio das Artes.
The exhibition “Campo Magnético”, is the fourth exhibition in the cycle “Não foi Cabral: revising silences and omissions”, a program co-curated by Lilia Schwarcz and Nuno Crespo, which includes an agenda of concerts, conferences, exhibitions and performances, which take place between February 16th and May 24th. The cycle is organized by Escola das Artes, in partnership with the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and Princeton University (USA).
