New dates to discover the archaeological works in Sintra

The Municipality of Sintra promotes guided visits to the archaeological excavations of Alto da Vigia and the Prehistoric Monument of Praia das Maçãs, every Friday in July.

The Alto da Vigia Archaeological Site can be visited on the 1st and 15th of July, a place full of history that dates back to the early 16th century when the first references speak of the existence of a monumental Roman sanctuary.

In a place surrounded by a magnificent landscape, it is near the mouth of the Rio de Colares that the excavations can be observed.

On July 8 and 22, visits are made to the Prehistoric Monument of Praia das Maçãs. This is a unique opportunity to observe a remarkable megalithic tomb, built and used between the end of the 4th millennium and during the 3rd millennium BC. Ç.

The wealth of these places, with great historical value, will transport visitors on a journey through their ancestors, while demonstrating the importance of the Archaeological Heritage of the county.

Guided tours will take place at 10:00 am and 11:00 am, with a limit of 10 people per visit.
