Shawn Mendes, multi-platinum singer/songwriter and nominated for the GRAMMYs, has just released his brand new album, Shawn. Listen HERE. The album has already been praised as a “triumph” and a “high point in the career of the 26-year-old” by “USA Today“.
Prior to the album, Shawn released songs such as “Heart of Gold”, “Nobody Knows”, “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough”. De “Heart of Gold”, a “Billboard” descreveu a canção como “tão comovente quanto pessoal”, enquanto o “The New York Times” afirmou que “Why Why Why” “representa um novo nível de honestidade e emoção”. More recently, Shawn performed the single “Heart of Gold” on MTV EMAs.
Shawn is deeply inspired by his travels and experiences in recent years, after the cancellation of his 2022 tour. Represents his most intimately and lyrically honest musical work to date, guiding listeners through a deep dialogue with himself in each song. Written and recorded over two years, the project was conceived in several locations including Nosara, Costa Rica; Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, NY; Bear Creek Studio in Washington state; Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville; and Electric Lady in New York.
“This album seems to me a remedy,” said Mendes. “It helped me reconnect with myself, allowing me to work on emotions, find clarity and feel stronger. Each song captures a moment of this journey and I hope it brings a sense of peace and joy to all the people who listen to it.”
The album was written and co-produced by Mendes, along with collaborators Scott Harris, Mike Sabath (“My 21st Century Blues” by Raye), Nate Mercereau (“New Blue Sun” by Andre 3000) and Eddie Benjamin, with additional songs co-written with Amy Allen, GRAMMY-winning songwriter, and with Ethan Gruska (Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers). The album also features instrumentation by Chris Thile, of the Punch Brothers.
Just before the album’s release, fans from all over the world watched the one-night-only screening of “Shawn Mendes: For Friends and Family Only (A Live Concert Film)” at the cinema. Captured at the historic Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, New York, the film concert featured Mendes‘ sincere interpretation of the album in full – for the first time.
