Novo Amor is returning to the stage with a visit to Portugal, on May 4th at LAV – Lisboa ao Vivo, in a very special concert.
Tickets will be available this Friday, November 3rd, at 9 a.m. at the usual locations and at everythingisnew.pt.
There Lacey started Novo Amor as a kind of project – an act of defiance in the wake of a breakup, but along the way, quite unexpectedly, she found something rewarding.
A summer spent by a lake surrounded by trees in upstate New York served as inspiration for the creation of her debut album Birthplace (2018) and its follow-up Cannot Be, Whatsoever (2020). The latter was created in a house in Cardiff that was part home, part studio, a place where the distant buzz of a party in the neighbouring street, the fireworks of Bonfire Night and the seagulls congregating on the land next door mingled in his recordings.
With Cannot Be, Whatsoever, Lacey contemplated a past filled with songs of quiet hope and yearning. “I can still see the lake in upstate New York when I think of ‘Birthplace,’ the songs protected by that place I romanticized that actually no longer exists. These new songs seem almost optimistic. If Birthplace is the countryside, then Cannot Be, Whatsoever is the city.”
In 2022, after having been on an expedition with Greenpeace in Antarctica, with the aim of investigating the impacts of the climate crisis on penguin populations in Antarctica, Antarctican Dream Machine was born – a completely instrumental album composed of 10 songs inspired by the trip and the Arctic sounds.
The meeting with the Portuguese public is then scheduled for May 4th at LAV – Lisboa ao Vivo.
