In the next academic year, the University of Coimbra (UC), the University of Poitiers (France), and the University of Turku (Finland) will jointly teach a new master’s degree in “Sustainable Cities and Communities”.
Created within the scope of the EC2U Alliance – European Campus of University Cities, this is a two-year master’s degree, taught in English, which aims to train future national and international professionals with various basic training in the fields of environment, and energy, urban planning, and resources. natural.
«The European Union’s policy plans and goals in the area of Sustainable Development, together with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will imply the need for a large number of specialists in the areas of sustainability“, explains Manuel Gameiro da Silva, coordinator of the new master’s degree.
For the professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), this degree «will guarantee students the development of instrumental skills in analysis and synthesis, resolution and planning, allowing them to start their careers with advanced knowledge in the field of sustainability in cities and communities. The EC2U Campus offers students the opportunity to study abroad, develop multicultural experiences, and expand their professional network».
Along the academic path, students will have the opportunity to study at up to 4 of the 7 EC2U universities.
