Mimi Froes, author of hits such as “Não Faz Mal Não Estar Bem” or “Entre Namorados”, is back with “Vai Ruir”. This song is the first advance of his new album, to be published soon.
The pop sound mixed with some jazz and touches of Hammond promises to accompany us on the longest and lightest of days, as this is a fresh and sunny song, which still calls for a little dancing.
About “Vai Ruir”, Mimi says that this “is the song that will sum up my album. If it comes to showing and explaining my need for control, this song is the feeling of someone who is constantly defeated by that temper. “Vai Ruir” is frustration, weariness, and despair. It’s all this in a dance tone because that’s the only way to learn to let go of the will to control everything – through lightness. The dichotomy between music and lyrics reflects the difficulty and beauty of disposing of our ills.»
At the age of 24, Mimi Froes already has two EPs and will publish her first album this year.
After dropping out of law school, she devoted herself fully to music and completed a jazz and modern music course at Universidade Lusíada. During that time she released her first EP, “Vamos Conversa”, which featured some songs that came up in the songwriting workshop she took with Luísa Sobral. In 2021 she edited the EP “E a cantor”, which took her to Tivoli, Theatro Circo, EDP cooljazz, among several other venues. When her song “Midnight Declarations” was nominated for a Golden Globe, Mimi felt it was time to close out her first album. “Vai Ruir” is the first track to come out of this album and can already be heard on all digital platforms, with the label “Aquele Abraço”.
