New fado talents conquered the public at Casino Estoril
On Gala night, the Salão Preto e Prata at Casino Estoril hosted the second edition of the show “Os Putos do Fado” which featured six new and promising national music talents.
A young fado singer Mel was the first to take the stage to perform “Alexandrino do Marceneiro”, “Fado Tertúlia” and Fado das Queixas”. Francisco Moreira followed with “Fado Súplica”, “Fado Tamanquinhas” and “Fado da Adiça”; and Catarina Dionisio who presented “Marcha do Marceneiro”, “Fado Esmeraldinha” and Fado Britinho”.
Ângelo Freire, musical director of “Os Putos do fado” was another of the night’s protagonists. The musician performed the themes “Se Um Dia Eu Te Disser”, “Sonhos”, “Sei Que Amar Não É Para Mim” and “Última Canção” which are part of his first album of originals, released in 2023.
The 2nd “Os Putos do fado” Gala also had Katia Guerreiro as a special guest. The fado singer sponsored the event, sharing with the public the compositions “Segredos”, “Algemas” and “Amor de Mel, Amor de Fel”.
The night continued with three more young fado talents. Manuel Siqueira treated the audience to “Fado Porto”, “Fado Franklim Sextilhas” and “Fado Rosita”; and Miguel Xavier presented “Mocita dos Caracóis”, “Fado Alvito” and “Fado Macau”. Later it was Carolina Varela Ribeiro’s turn to perform “Fado Tango”, “Fado Versículo” and “Fado Mouraria Estilizado”.
With more than two hours of show, Katia Guerreiro invited the Putos do Fado to gather on stage to say goodbye to the public with the great classic “Lisboa à Noite”.
With an intimate recording, the fado singers were accompanied by musicians Ângelo Freire, on Portuguese guitar, Bernardo Saldanha on viola and Rodrigo Correia on double bass.
