NTT DATA Foundation launches eAwards 2023 with a prize of up to 110 thousand euros for the best project of a technological nature and with social impact

The NTT DATA Foundation has just launched the 22nd edition of the technological entrepreneurship awards, the eAwards.

Taking place in 15 countries, the eAwards aim to recognize and support technological entrepreneurship, namely projects that generate a positive impact on people’s quality of life and/or the environment. Applications run until June 30, through the portal.

After the application phase is over, a jury will determine the finalist projects, which will compete for the Portuguese prize, worth €10,000, to which an acceleration program will be added. The local winner will also have direct access to the Global eAwards final, where the €100,000 prize winner will be identified.

What projects are you looking for?
The eAwards are looking for Portuguese entrepreneurs and startups with projects based on high-impact, innovative, scalable, and sustainable technologies that contribute to improving people’s quality of life or that solve environmental problems, through digital business models, or that make intensive use of technology. Specifically, they can be projects in areas as diverse as banking, education, energy, industry, environment, security, health, and telecommunications.

The Global final takes place within the scope of the NTT DATA Innovation Week, which brings together the winners of the eAwards from the participating countries, in an event that brings together entrepreneurs, specialists, and investors, to share solutions, methodologies, and networking, making it a very enriching moment for everyone. the participants.

What’s new for the 22nd edition of the eAwards
The big news this year is the increase in the financial endowment of the global eAwards prize, which rises from 60,000 euros to 100,000 euros, which demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to the initiative.

Balance of the eAwards and the participation of Portuguese Projects
In the latest edition of the eAwards Portugal, the highlight is Bactometer, winner of the local semifinal and which is an initiative of the start-up COBE TECH; a project aimed at preventing hospital infections through an intelligent device for early detection of multidrug-resistant bacteria. It is the first point-of-care magnetic system for qualitative, rapid detection – in less than 1 hour – and at the low cost of pathogenic agents, with high sensitivity and specificity.

In the last 22 years, the NTT DATA FOUNDATION has received and supported more than 9,000 projects worldwide and receives around 2,000 applications annually, from projects looking for a new impetus, which demonstrates the relevance of the award, but also the quality of the program of acceleration and the networking platform that the eAwards represent. Portugal has already seen two projects win the Global eAwards final and another two receive an Honorable Mention.
