Banco Santander organizes, together with the British Council, the program 100 Santander Scholarships | UK English Summer Experience 2023, which facilitates the learning of English in an immersive environment on a British university campus, for 3 weeks, in July and August 2023. The initiative results from the recognition of the importance of mastering languages to increase employability.
The 100 grants are aimed at young people aged between 18 and 30, residing in one of the following countries: Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Poland, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay. The scholarship includes accommodation and travel expenses to the UK. It is not mandatory to be a customer of Banco Santander or to have a university degree to receive the scholarship. Applications are open until January 30, 2023, on the Bolsas Santander page.
The program was designed by the British Council and consists of daily lessons adapted to the level of each student (from intermediate to advanced). In addition, there will be a program of social and cultural activities to make everyday life on the British university campus more immersive. At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of participation.
The course will take place between 1 July and 17 August 2023. By the end of March 2023, the British Council will inform selected candidates of their specific days of stay and at which of the three universities in the program they have been placed (Coventry, East Anglia, and Sheffiel).
Blanca Sagastume, Global Director of Santander Universities, Open Innovation, and Blockchain, says: “This scholarship is not only a magnificent opportunity to improve English in an immersive environment at a prestigious institution such as the British Council, but it also allows you to experience an international environment and get in touch with British culture and traditions.”
Carolina Jiménez, responsible for Education at the British Council Spain, considers that British universities are recognized worldwide for their quality and level of internationalization. Students selected for this program will enjoy university accommodation and share experiences with students from all over the world – a unique opportunity that goes far beyond just learning English.
