Bolo da Marta celebrates the flavor of autumn with new offerings
has a new location in Belém
New flavours, timeless classics, and a space where time slows down celebrate the arrival of the new season
With new recipes that celebrate the comfort of the season and a premise that prioritises seasonality, Bolo da Marta welcomes autumn to its new home in Belém, a bright and welcoming space where time slows down and flavor continues to be the protagonist.

In the heart of the city, time seems to pass slowly, and each slice tells a story of sharing, dedication, and care. Between the comforting aroma of freshly baked cake and the sound of the street outside, Bolo da Marta’s new location reflects the essence of the project and becomes a welcoming refuge that invites you to experience the small pleasures of everyday life.
In a setting where every detail has been carefully considered, the autumn menu celebrates the comfort of familiar flavours and the charm of recipes created to accompany every moment. Among the most anticipated returns are the Apple and Cinnamon Cake (€35), which evokes the cosiness of cold afternoons and the sweet aroma of kitchens where food is cooked with care, and the Pomegranate Cake (€35), a symbol of the cold season and a bestseller during the winter season. These are joined by the Blueberry and Mint Cake (€35), which brings lightness and freshness to the offering, reinforcing the celebration of small delights adapted to each season, and the Chocolate and Dulce de Leche Meringue Cake (€52), a favourite choice for those who enjoy intense and enveloping flavours.

Among the most recent additions, O Bolo da Marta now presents irresistible meringue cookies (€4), available in flavours that promise to win over all palates, such as lotus biscoff, peanut butter, and chocolate and Nutella. Made daily and available until sold out, these new creations maintain the artisanal and indulgent spirit that so characterises the brand. Seasonality continues to define the identity of O Bolo da Marta, which adapts its offerings to the fruits and colours of each season, with strawberries and berries in the summer and pomegranates adding a festive and delicate touch in the winter.
Between sweet bites and light conversations, the new space invites you to linger a little longer. With a terrace overlooking the street, it’s the perfect setting for a long snack under the light of Belém. Without losing the focus that gives it its name, O Bolo da Marta also offers savoury and pastry options, including toast, bagels, yoghurt and granola bowls, croissants, and pastries, designed to accompany the light rhythm of the days and seasons.

Behind the brand, Marta, founder and creator of the original recipe for the iconic meringue cake, began a story that stems from simplicity and genuineness. In 2012, while studying and working in the pharmaceutical field, she began bringing her chocolate cake with cream and berries to friends’ dinners, an immediate success that gave rise to the name and the project. What began at home has become a benchmark for Lisbon pastries, a symbol of authenticity and closeness. “Bolo da Marta was born in our home kitchen and continues to have that spirit of closeness. We want each person to feel like they are savouring something made with love and time,” shares Marta Gonçalves Viegas.
With almost fourteen years of history, Bolo da Marta grows consciously and authentically. Located at 94 Rua Bartolomeu Dias in Belém, the new space invites you to pause amidst the aroma of freshly baked cakes and the inviting light. Open Monday to Saturday, from 11 am to 6 pm. For those who prefer to enjoy their cakes in the comfort of their own home, you can also order them through the official website obolodamarta.pt or by email at encomendas@obolodamarta.pt. In Belém, there’s now a new meeting place for those who believe that sweetness can also be experienced in the rhythm of time.

About Bolo da Marta
Bolo da Marta was born on January 1, 2012, as a New Year’s resolution. Without a background in pastry, but with a genuine passion for cooking, Marta began bringing her meringue cake to friends’ dinner parties, where it quickly became a staple. The spontaneous success led to the creation of a Facebook page at a time when Instagram didn’t yet exist, transforming the project into a digital and media phenomenon.
Four months later, the first store opened at LX Factory, inside the Ler Devagar bookstore, where the cake came to life and won a loyal following. In 2015, Bolo da Marta opened a pop-up store at El Corte Inglês and shortly after, at Time Out Market, where it remains to this day. In 2019, it travelled from LX Factory to Chiado, next to Largo do Carmo, consolidating the brand’s reputation in the city. Finally, after several years in the heart of Lisbon, the brand headed to Belém, where it found a new home and a new rhythm. Between the sound of the tram and the shimmer of the river, Bolo da Marta is reborn, more mature, true to its essence and the simplicity that has always guided it.
