The Fado Festival Lima brings António Zambujo to Peru

The Fado Festival is back in Lima, the capital of Peru, with a concert by one of the greatest representatives of Portuguese music: António Zambujo live at the Teatro Nos in San Isidro, on November 12 at 8:00 PM.

With the theme “Fado and Freedom,” in addition to the concert, the 2024 edition of the Fado Festival Lima brings free activities such as the conference “El Fado y la Libertad” with Rodrigo Costa Félix and the film “O Cônsul de Bordéus,” a classic of Portuguese cinema, by Francisco Manso and João Correa.

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution of April 1974, the event, which is one of the largest national symbols in promoting the language, culture, and brand of Portugal worldwide, celebrates this historical milestone in one of the largest capitals in Latin America.

The Fado Festival takes place in 17 major cities in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia, and celebrates 14 editions in 2024 since its inception in Madrid.

The Fado Festival is organized by Everything is New and Alto e Bom Som in co-production with the Fado Museum | Lisbon Culture.

About António Zambujo
António Zambujo is one of the greatest representatives of Portuguese music, language, and culture today at both national and international levels, and for several years he has been almost on an uninterrupted world tour. He built a musical career by tracing a unique path that lies between Fado and Cante Alentejano, and he constantly refuses to be tied to any particular genre or musical school.

He unequivocally embraces the influence of Brazilian music by releasing an album in homage to Chico Buarque in 2016 – “Até Pensei que Fosse Minha” – which earned him a Latin Grammy nomination in 2017, in the category of Brazilian Popular Music. More recently, he has also performed alongside the famous Brazilian guitarist and composer Yamandu Costa.

At the end of 2018, he named his latest album of original recordings ‘Do Avesso’ (Of the Flip Side). Here, he reinvents himself once again and broadens the scope of his musical language by bringing in the Lisbon Sinfonietta and three of the most talented Portuguese musicians and producers: Nuno Rafael, Filipe Melo, and João Moreira.

There are many worlds within the universe of António Zambujo, and whether he performs only accompanied by his guitar or surrounded by his musicians, he is certainly an outstanding singer and musician with a unique ability to captivate the audience who listens to him. In 2024, he returns to the Fado Festival, where he has already been present numerous times, for yet another unique and unmissable concert.
