The award-winning national short film released in May hits the big screens in four free sessions (2-5 December) in Lisbon and Porto and from the 17th of December on SIC’s OPTO platform.
Filmed in its entirety with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, this is another work by director and screenwriter Pedro Varela who, together with the agency Uzina, gave life to a script written almost a hundred years ago by one of the greatest geniuses of Portuguese literature.
After the successful launch, in May of this year, Samsung takes “O ÍDOLO” to the big screens for four entirely free sessions, on December 2nd at Cinemas NOS Amoreiras (20:00) and on December 3 at Cinemas NOS Colombo (20:00h) in Lisbon, and on December 4th (8:00 pm) and December 5th (11:00 am) at Cinemas NOS Parque Nascente in Porto. Spectators interested in attending one of these sessions must “buy” their ticket through the ÍDOLO page. The short film produced by the director Pedro Varela through the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, is based on the script “Note for a thriller, or film“, written almost a hundred years ago by Fernando Pessoa and will also be available to subscribers of the platform OPTO by SIC from December 17th.
Released in May 2021, O IDOLO now hits the big screens to show once again an unprecedented plot, written nearly a hundred years ago, in which several characters receive the difficult mission of transporting an invaluable artifact aboard a ship that makes the transatlantic crossing between New York and Southampton. A risky game, which looks more like a study of human nature, is the starting point of an adventure where no one is who they appear to be. The adventure told in a short-film format, lasts 20 minutes, in what is the first film produced from a script by Fernando Pessoa to reach theaters. The capacity of the rooms is limited and all those interested must access the film’s page to guarantee their place in one of the 4 sessions available between Lisbon and Porto.
“We decided to bet once again on IDOLO because it is a work that deserves to be on the big screens, we want to highlight the role of our culture through one of its most representative authors, Fernando Pessoa and the best way to celebrate it is to offer it to people high-quality content“, says José Correia, Mobile Product Marketing Director. “Today, we record our lives and tell our stories through smartphones – which is why the camera is one of the most important resources for the user. The end result of this Fernando Pessoa’s first film is proof of the ability and versatility of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G to bring out the best in each image from start to finish”.
Through this project, the brand realizes its motto of #DoWhatYouCant, bringing to the Portuguese public the realization of a script written nearly 100 years ago, never before taken to the cinema, showing the audience a new work by one of the greatest literary heroes in the country.
