“Inferno” is the second single from O Marta that anticipates the new album Casta Brava, due out on March 22nd.
In this song, the artist revisits some of the sounds already heard in his music, such as polyphonic choirs, intense traditional percussions and distorted guitars that now join a much more electronic production base.
“It no longer burns / not even in Hell does it burn / my broken heart”, is the verse that inspires the title of this new single. Sung by a mostly male polyphonic choir, it transports us to a tribal and grotesque world, where the artist reflects, as in the previous single “Rapaz”, on his concerns, this time masked by a passion that, despite being fiery, is based on suffering, war and pain, on a passion incapable of finding peace.
“Inferno” is also a critique of the need for suffering to exist for art to be born and the verses “I smiled / with the knife in my chest” reflect this, our very Portuguese pride in the pain we go through and overcome. The melody and lyrics take us to this dark world, transporting us to the artist’s feelings in his inability to be satisfied and in his suffering in pursuit of his passion.
O Marta is preparing to release the new album in 2024, more precisely on March 22nd. Casta Brava is presented live for the first time in presentation concerts that take place in Lisbon, Porto and Viseu.
On March 21st the artist takes the stage at Musicbox in Lisbon, on the day of the album’s release he presents it at Maus Hábitos in Porto, finally on March 23rd he performs at Carmo’81 in Viseu, his hometown.
