Sagres Campo Pequeno

Masego returned to Lisbon to present his eponymous album, the Jamaican-American artist amazed the audience that went to Sagres Campo Pequeno with his saxophone solos and electrifying rhythm.

Micah Davis, born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1993, known as Masego, was soon surrounded by music, from reggae to soul, this son of evangelical pastors, however, it was only when he moved to the USA that he began learning various instruments, piano, saxophone, trumpet and drums.

His music is full of references to his roots, which define his identity, and fill the heart with warm rhythms, as we can hear in Campo Pequeno.

It was to the sound of “Navajo” that Masego opened the concert, in the company of Cedric Mitchell on drums and Jonathan Curry on bass and keyboards, followed by “Queen Things” and “Lady Lady”, it was in Brazilian Portuguese that he addressed the audience, which was already vibrating, and danced enchanted by the first songs, thanking everyone present, despite it not being full, probably also due to the Karllotta storm, which was felt outside, contrasting with the human warmth, that everyone felt inside.

Always accompanied by images projected on the stage, and a wealth of light, “Sweet Love” was a cover of Anitta Baker’s mega-hit, in which Masego shone on the saxophone. “Two Sides (I’m So Gemini)” was the first foray into his album Masego, followed by “Yamz” and “Prone”.

Before reaching the end, we can still hear “Sides of Me”, “You Never Visit Me”, “Silver Tongue Devil” and even “Eternal Sunshine”, but the fans, who cheered, applauded and accompanied him, from the start to finish, wanted more and the musician returned to toast Campo Pequeno with “Tadow”, which ended a hot night with the signing of Everything is New.
