Costa da Caparica Festival
Sol da Caparica ended the 2024 edition with some names that would not have been expected on the main stage, Padre Guilherme would not be an obvious choice, but it even managed to hold a large young audience that went there to see Diogo Piçarra, MC IG and T-Rex.
After the change of producer, which won the public competition promoted by the City Council of Almada, changes were expected at the festival and they happened one less stage, some artists who had not yet performed at Sol, better conditions for the public, artists and other participants at the Festival.
Yesterday the main stage opened with Father Guilherme, a unique figure who combines his role as a Catholic priest with his passion for music. He gained notoriety for his performance during Portugal’s 2023 World Youth Day. Their sets often include remixes of religious hymns and other inspirational songs.
He maintains an active presence on social media such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, where he shares his music and messages of faith. During the pandemic, he held live sessions, which were a success among many of his admirers, it would certainly not be an obvious choice for the Festival and especially for the main stage, when other more “normal” choices were on the secondary stage, on the However, he gave a perfect account of himself with many young people watching his presentation.
Next comes Badoxa, that is, Edgar Silva Correia, a rising Portuguese singer and composer, his best-known songs are between Kizomba and Afrobeat, “Minha Mulher”, “Homem Que é Homem” and “Panko”, but at the Festival he also presented the “Deixa o Clima Rolar”, a song with captivating rhythms that won over the festival audience.
It was then the turn of Diogo Piçarra, already an unavoidable name on the Portuguese music scene, singer, composer, musician and music producer. Some of his best-known hits are “Saída de Emergency”, “Amor de Ferro” in collaboration with Pedro Abrunhosa, and “Não Te Odeio”.
Born in Faro on October 19, 1990, he began his musical career at a very young age, forming the band Fora da Bóia at 17, where he stood out as a guitarist and vocalist. In 2012, he won the fifth edition of the talent show “Ídolos”, which gave him great visibility and a contract with Universal Music.
His debut album, Espelho (2015), which includes hits such as “Tu e Eu” and “Verdadeiro”, was well-received and reached the top of sales in Portugal.
It was followed do=s (2017), which consolidated his career, which includes “História” and “Dialeto”, South Side Boy (2019), marked his musical evolution by exploring new sounds and collaborations.
In 2024 he released Sntmntl, an album that shows artistic maturity and emotional depth in his compositions, something that can also be seen in his concerts. He was a mentor on the program “The Voice Portugal” from 2019 to 2023, helping to discover and guide new talents.
Diogo Piçarra is known for his lyrics, and captivating melodies but also for his presence and energy on stage and especially for his friendliness and openness to the public and fans, never denying them contact, affection or hugs. He continues to enchant whenever he goes on stage, whether on his guitar, piano or even the drums, and at Sol he once again put on an excellent show, which won over a packed venue.
One of the most anticipated artists was MC IG, i.e. Guilherme Sérgio Ramos de Souza, Brazilian singer, songwriter and businessman, born in São Paulo on May 12, 1997. He is a prominent figure on the funk scene, especially known for his collaborations with other artists, your songs easily go viral.
Some of the most popular songs are “Noite Fria” with MC Pipokinha and “Medley 2024”. In addition to his music career, MC IG is also known for his involvement in business and being an influential figure on social media.
The main stage closed with T-Rex, Daniel Benjamim, a Portuguese rapper and producer born in September 1996. He began to gain prominence in 2018 with the EP Chá de Camomila, which includes singles such as “Chá Preto”. T-Rex mixes rap, R&B, trap and other styles, his biggest hits are “É ASSIM”, “Ar” and “Tinoni”. T-Rex is also a member of the Mafia735 collective.
The last day on the Almada stage featured TNT, with the sweet voice of Mariana Reis, a talented Portuguese singer and songwriter. He has already released several songs, including “lado a lado” with João Pedro Pais, “não és tu, nem sou eu” and “engana-me hoje, eu deixo”, the stage closed with Palavra Futuro, on the Costa stage we could hear Lua, and still see Jazzy and MC who returned to make everyone happy who stopped by to see them dance.
The Bandida do Pomar stage opened again with comedy, yesterday performed by Mário Falcão, Joana Miranda and Beatriz Gosto, who were the main attraction and closed the comedy at O Sol da Caparica with lots of laughter. Beatriz Gosta is the uncomplex voice that still shocks some Portuguese minds but makes even those laugh, she is a cultural phenomenon that conquered Portugal with her irreverent humour, her direct language and her uncomplex approach to topics such as sexuality, relationships, motherhood and everyday life.
Behind this character is Marta Bateira, a Portuguese comedian and rapper who, since 2015, has given life to Beatriz Gosta on her YouTube channel. The character, with her Northern accent, quickly became an icon of popular culture, winning over fans of all ages.
Beatriz Gosta is not afraid to address topics considered taboo, such as sex, toxic relationships and feminist issues, with acidic and very intelligent humour. The character aims to encourage women to own their bodies and their lives. Beatriz Gosta’s northeastern accent and colloquial language made her even closer to the public. In addition to humour, he also stands out as a rapper, using music as another form of expression.
This was followed by shows by Cláudia Pascoal, Linda Martini, HMB and I Love Baile Funk. Cláudia is a Portuguese singer who continues to win the hearts of the Portuguese with her unique and fun way of being on stage. She represented Portugal at the 2018 Eurovision Festival with the song “O Jardim”.
Claudia began her musical career at a young age, participating in several singing competitions and showing her vocal talent from an early age. His participation in the Eurovision Festival was a milestone in his career, boosting his popularity both in Portugal and abroad.
Her soft and powerful voice enchants the audience, transmitting emotion and authenticity in each interpretation. Cláudia is known for her natural beauty and charisma, and for her songs, such as “O Jardim”, which carry messages of hope and love, which she transmits in an authentic but also fun way, she brings a little of her world to each concert, creating a picturesque and fun setting that delights its fans.
Cláudia’s participation in the Eurovision Festival opened doors for her international career, allowing her music to reach an even larger audience. Yesterday she once again showed all her expertise in enchanting and surprising the public, with her fantastic concert at Sol.
This was followed by Linda Martini, one of the most influential and respected bands on the alternative music scene in Portugal. Formed in 2003, the rock band from Lisbon quickly stood out for its unique sound, which mixes elements of post-rock and punk, with introspective lyrics, which explore existential and social themes.
Over the years, Linda Martini has constantly evolved, experimenting with new sounds and musical approaches. The band went through some line-up changes, but the essence of their sound remained intact, gaining a loyal and growing audience.
The mix of post-rock and punk elements, with distorted guitars, catchy melodies and poetic lyrics, creates an unmistakable sound, Linda Martini’s lyrics that address themes such as identity, loneliness, the passage of time and human relationships continue to captivate her fans.
The energy and intensity of their live performances are legendary, they are considered one of the pillars of Portuguese alternative music, influencing several bands and artists. One of the band’s most acclaimed albums, Sirumba, reached number one on the charts in Portugal. Songs like “Volta”, “As Putas Dançam Slows” and “Eu Nem Vi” are anthems of a generation.
At O Sol da Caparica once again gave a great show full of energy, captivating the audience who came to hear them from start to finish.
Back at Sol, the Portuguese soul and funk band, HMB, which continues to make everyone who sees it vibrate, gave one of the best shows of this festival, HMB took to the stage its best-known but also new songs. Formed in 2007, the group won over the public with an infectious musical style, positive lyrics and energetic performances.
The band has already won several awards, including nominations for Best Portuguese Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2014, 2016 and 2017, one of their biggest hits being “Não Me Leves a Mal”, which became a true national anthem to which They bring together so many other songs that everyone knows and that the many fans who were at Sol sang with them, a fantastic show that in our opinion deserved the main stage.
The stage closed with I Love Baile Funk, where Brazilian music from the cheesiest to the coolest came together and ended the night of O Sol da Caparica.

Balance of the 2024 edition
The last day featured a press conference with representatives from Domingo no Mundo and Music Mov, headed by André Sardet and António Gomes respectively and representatives from the Almada City Council, who took stock of the festival, the difficulties encountered and the plans for the next two editions. André Sardet also announced the dates for the 10th edition, August 14, 15, 16 and 17, 2025.

After a troubled start, the Festival organization, which received several criticisms that were intended to be constructive, made several changes that were felt on the second day, improving day by day, the least good that had been done or not done, I would like to congratulate the companies responsible for organizing the Festival, Domingo no Mundo and Music Mov, headed by André Sardet and António Gomes, for the excellent festival, but also for their ability to listen to criticism and even more so for their ability to implement the necessary changes, I would also like to thank the press office, O Colectivo, for the work carried out with the media, trying in every situation to help with the work that was carried out.
