Tivoli BBVA Theater exceeds 200 thousand spectators

In its centenary year, the Tivoli BBVA Theater recorded a 14.5% increase in the number of spectators, in an agenda with more than 333 days of cultural programming.

The Tivoli BBVA Theater surpassed 200,000 spectators in 2024, the year in which it celebrated its centenary. The celebratory agenda continues until November 30th, with several national and international projects on stage. The goals remain the same: to make culture an integral part of everyone’s lives and to drive growth in the number of viewers.

In the year in which the Tivoli BBVA Theater celebrated its 100th anniversary, around €500,000 was invested in programming. The year also marked a 14.5% increase in spectators, the best number recorded since the acquisition of the Theater by UAU Produtora. The basis of this success was the programming that the producer UAU presented to the national market, through partnerships with several cultural institutions and other producers who chose the stage of this theatre for their performances.

“We want to continue growing and making history in the city, in culture and the performing arts, but we are aware that we need support, starting with the public, who buy tickets and repeat the cultural experience at Teatro Tivoli BBVA”, highlights Paulo Dias, Director of Teatro Tivoli BBVA and General Director of UAU Produtora.

The 100th-anniversary program included several projects developed with some of the main cultural institutions in the city of Lisbon, with historical links to the Tivoli BBVA Theater. Additionally, UAU also presented productions from Spain, Argentina, Canada, France, the United States of America, Brazil and the United Kingdom.

“The partnerships we have established have allowed us to reach new audiences and establish the Teatro Tivoli BBVA as a venue for all arts, genres and styles. Our stage is open to culture and the response has been very positive, which motivates us to continue investing in quality and diverse programming”, adds Paulo Dias.

UAU Produtora acquired the Teatro Tivoli BBVA in 2012 and, since then, has invested in a diverse and comprehensive program on this stage, where it has presented its productions, as well as shows by other producers, through the reception room aspect.

In March, the Tivoli BVVA Theater is preparing to host shows such as “TUTU – Chicos Mambo” (UAU Produtora), “The Choir of Man” (UAU Produtora), “Beethoven no Feminino” (Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa) and “Sagração – Cia de Dança Deborah Colker” (Cloud Man Tree), among many others. The production “A Peça que Dá Para o Torto” is back, an international show adapted by the production company UAU.
