“O Último que Apague a Luz” new single by Manuel Fúria
First single before the concerts at Misty Fest on November 29 at Village Underground and December 1 at Casa da Música.
Manuel Fúria is, in 2024, as he has always been in music: restless and passionate, willing to take risks and embrace novelty, uncompromising when it comes to his art, which comes, as it always has, from a deep place within him. The man who helped Portuguese music explore new paths with the label Amor Fúria, who led the band Golpes and saved Os Náufragos, reinvented himself in 2022 with the highly personal and introspectively danceable “Os Perdedores,” one of the most transparent, disarming, and honest records Portuguese pop has produced in a long time.
Manuel Fúria claims to be now committed to expressing what he truly considers important and using dance music as a source of solutions to illuminate those ideas and words he feels are urgent.
“Now I am making music differently,” he explains. “The change happened in ‘Os Perdedores’ and there’s no turning back.” In other words, as it has always been, Manuel Fúria continues to be an artist of ‘either all or nothing’. ‘Nothing‘ has never mattered. And it continues not to matter.
Misty Fest will be the stage for presenting Manuel Fúria’s new music, accompanied on stage by João Eleutério. Machines, rhythms, melodies, and words that both make you dance and think – that is what is coming, therefore. On November 29, at Village Underground in Lisbon, and December 1 at Casa da Música in Porto.
Released today, November 8, by Flor Caveira, the single – “O Último que Apague a Luz”:
“Johnny Marr, at the start of the game, passes to Barbosa, Barbosa passes to Fúria, Fúria passes to Barbosa, Fúria spins on his own, approaches the penalty area, sees Barbosa unmarked, passes him the ball, and goal. A more solar refinement – musically. The lyrics are dark but they are also enigmatic – they open pathways. It mixes the grand and the supermarket. The metaphysical-social-civilizational concern and the Woman’s Ticket. The music gains a deadly dance momentum.”
