A work of the British Visual Artist Banksy was yesterday sold at auction for the record value of 19.4 million euros, with the verba collected to be channeled to solidarity organizations and related to health.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he work, which had a bidding base of two million euros, entitles “Game Changer” and shows a child holding a small doll that represents a nurse with mask and superhero mask. With the sale at the Christie’s auction, by 19.4 million euros (16.7 million pounds), a new record of an auction from a work of Banksy, street artist whose identity is unknown.
Banksy had offered this work in May 2020 to the Southampton Hospital in the United Kingdom during the first vacancy of Covid-19 pandemic as a form of thanksgiving and appreciation of the work of physicians and nurses in the follow-up of patients infected by this coronavirus.
The previous record of an auction of a work of Bansky had been reached in October 2019, when the work “Devolded Parliament” was sold – which represented the British parliament occupied by Chimpanzees – by 11.3 million euros.
