Today Ruben Portinha’s new single, “Obra Rara”, hits the digital platforms, a theme distinguished with the José Afonso Award for Best Original Song at the Cantar Abril 2021 Festival.
With lyrics, music and the artist’s production, “Obra Rara” is a song that reminds us that the conquest of freedom did not end on April 25, 1974, it is a continuous, never-ending process with which we must learn and by which we must strive every day.
“I confess my pride for the end result of this song. For those who compose, there are rare moments when you can write word for word everything you want to say, but fortunately I managed to do that in this theme. If you want to know what I think about April 25 and everything that came from it, just listen to the lyrics,” he says.
In addition to the lyrics, music and production, Ruben Portinha sang and played all the instruments that make up this song (bass, timbrels and nylon acoustic guitars). All of this results in an acoustic approach, with hints of traditional Portuguese music and an authenticity that has characterized the artist’s musical path.
Farol Música is, once again, the partner responsible for this launch.
