Oceano Azul Foundation takes coastal cleaning to the bottom of the sea

The initiative takes place this year for the first time with the support of diving centers and is part of a series of actions that the foundation will promote for a week, between 19 and 27 September.

In addition to cleaning at the bottom of the sea, the Oceano Azul Foundation also challenged Portuguese organizations dedicated to combating marine litter to promote cleaning actions on the beaches, coastline and watercourse margins.

Last year, 13 tons of marine litter were collected in the 64 coastal cleaning actions promoted by the foundation to mark the day, which involved more than 2,300 volunteers and 100 organizations, and covered 80 km of the Portuguese coast.
