Odeith, Tamara Alves and Third will paint murals in Amadora

Portuguese artists Odeith, Tamara Alves, Samina, The Caver and Third will be creating artistic murals in Amadora, starting August 30, as part of the project ‘Conversas na Rua’, which this year celebrates five years.

The 5th edition of the Amadora City Council project, which “promotes artistic activity in the public space”, will take place this year between August 30 and September 10 and, according to the municipality, will feature this year. Odeith, Tamara Alves, Samina, The Caver and Third.

To celebrate the five years of the initiative, on September 7, Espaço Fernando Relvas (Recreios da Amadora) receives a “special program”, which includes the opening of the exhibition ‘Conversas Exposed’, a screen printing workshop, by the Bicycle Manifesta project and Staged conversations with actresses Carla Chambel and Joana Brandão.

In addition, there will be Urban Art Conversations, with artists Gonçalo Mar, Elsa Poderosa and Pedro Peixe (Altura Studio) and a concert by musician Janeiro.

The artistic interventions begin on August 30 and the first to paint will be Third and The Caver.

Born in Porto, Third, who has been dedicated to graffiti since the 1990s and is part of Coletivo Rua, will be painting at Salvador Allende Road between August 30 and September 8.

Between August 30th and September 5th you will see The Caver, born in Lisbon and who began graffiti in the late 1990s, painting on Avenida Mário Soares.

From September 1st to 10th, it is Samina’s turn, whose work is mainly characterized by the painting of faces with ‘stencil’ (painting with molds), and Tamara Alves, artist and illustrator, to paint on Avenida do Brasil and Rua Pio XII, respectively.

From September 2 to 9 it will be possible to see Odeith, a son of the earth and regular participation in the festival, painting on Dr. Teixeira Coelho Street.

A native of Damaia, Odeith began painting on the street and on railway lines, worked for over a decade on tattoos and left murals in the neighborhoods of Cova da Moura, 6 de Maio and Santa Filomena, while developing the 3D technique (three dimensions). ), one of the most striking features of his work.

The murals in Amadora with the figures of fado singer Amália Rodrigues, guitarist Carlos Paredes, musician José Afonso, and footballer Eusébio are his own.

Within Conversas na Rua, whose first edition took place in 2015, “22 mural interventions have already been carried out at Amadora, resulting from the participation of several Portuguese artists from different artistic disciplines, from painting and illustration to graffiti”.

These works are among the more than 100 works of urban art scattered around the walls of Amadora and are part of the Amadora Urban Art Map, available online.
