Oliveirense and Sporting qualify for European League final four
Oliveirense and Sporting drew (6-6), in the 2nd round of group B of the European League, and, thus, both sets guaranteed the qualification for the ‘final four’ of the competition.
Pedro Gil and Telmo Pinto put the lions to win 2-0, with Marc Torra reducing. Toni Pérez again gave Sporting a two-goal lead, with Jorge Silva and Lucas Martínez putting the scorer back in a tie. In the first part of crazy, Marc Torra scored twice and left Oliveirense in front for the first time, but, even before the break, Gonzalo Romero and João Souto returned Sporting to the lead.
In the second 25 minutes, the high level continued at the Pavilhão Municipal do Luso, in Mealhada. Ferran Font made the 6-4 for the green and whites, but Marc Torra then scored again. With five minutes left, Vítor Hugo sealed the 6-6 final.
With this tie, Oliveirense guarantees the first place in group B, with 4 points, as many as Sporting. The Oliveira de Azeméis team, however, got the better of the goal difference – 11 scored and 7 conceded, with those from Alvalade finishing with 11 scored and 9 conceded.
Sporting is also in the ‘final four’, as they managed to be the second best of the three groups.
In group C, it should be noted, Benfica (3 points) and Barcelona (1 point), measure strength from 20 hours, to decide who will be the last qualifier. In case of victory or draw, the reds guarantee the qualification, being, thus, the final four only with Portuguese teams, since FC Porto, Oliveirense and Sporting have already guaranteed the passport for the decision of the European title, scheduled for the days May 15th and 16th, also in Luso.
