Omah Lay confirmed on the last day of the 15th edition of NOS Alive
Omah Lay is the new confirmation for the Heineken Stage on the 8th of July of the 15th edition of NOS Alive! This is the debut of the Nigerian artist at Passeio Marítimo de Algés.
Omah Lay is one of the most innovative and relevant artists of our time, thanks to his voice that is as dark as it is bright, his evocative narrative, and the contagious rhythms that we find in his songs.
From an early age, he started making music as part of a teenage rap group, named Lil King, deciding years later to abandon the microphone and venture into music production and, in 2019, become the neighborhood’s producer of choice. After producing some songs that had some success in Port Harcourt, he rescues the microphone and edits, in 2020, “Bad Influence” and the radio anthem “You” boosted the EP Get Layd with great reviews, conquering more than 100 million streams on multiple platforms.
The 25-year-old singer-producer’s afro-fusion label effortlessly draws on his deeply personal history with the West African highlife genre, as well as his enthusiasm for the popular sounds of his generation – from classic rap to the burgeoning Afro-beats empire. Throughout his two inventive EPs, Get Layd and What Have We Done, we unravel in his voice stories and tales that navigate between the introspection and the romantic to the gratifyingly explicit, skilfully placed over-exuberant and soulful instrumentals. Layered together from his experiences and heartfelt confessions, Omah Lay’s music not only portrays a young man who dares to reveal his bravest vices and innermost feelings but also functions as a fascinating window into the bright and expansive future of Afro. -fusion.
The Heineken Stage then receives the afro-fusion star on the last day of NOS Alive’23.
