Opera, Circus and large concerts at the Porto Ageas Coliseum rentrée

A musical journey that celebrates the 500th anniversary of Fernão de Magalhães Circuit Navigation, a grand opera by Giuseppe Verdi and the traditional Christmas Circus are among the highlights of the cultural rentrée of the Porto Ageas Coliseum. Until December, the Main Room will host about 30 shows, including concerts, conversations, ballets, opera and even a children’s musical, which will add up to 40 circus sessions.

One of the highlights of this theater’s own program is Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino”, which marks the return of the grand opera to the Porto Ageas Coliseum. This co-production with the São Carlos National Theater (TNSC) takes place on October 26 at 8 pm, with soprano Julianna Di Giacomo and tenor Kristian Benedikt taking on the Leonora / Alvaro pair, in a story where intense personal dramas unfold. with war as a background.

Directing “La Forza del Destino, one of Giuseppe Verdi’s most ambitious compositions, will be Italian conductor Antonio Pirolli. With staging by David Pountney and set design by Raimund Bauer, the richness of the sets and costumes, and of course the strength of the music, which counts on the performance of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra and the São Carlos National Theater Choir.

In September there will be no shortage of the opening performance of the art school in residence at the Colosseum – the Balleteatro -, and concerts by Maria Bethânia and Yann Tiersen.
