A blockbuster that marks a new era in Portuguese fiction
OPTO SIC and Prime Video join forces to launch “Red Moon: New Generation”, the long-awaited return of one of the most remarkable series on Portuguese television.
Inspired by the universe that won over thousands of fans in 2010, this new generation promises to maintain the original DNA, now with a more modern approach, capable of crossing borders and launching new talents to the international market.
In “Red Moon: New Generation”, sixteen years after leaving the past behind, Afonso and Isabel’s quiet life in Sintra is shaken when their daughter, Sofia, finds herself at the centre of a new supernatural threat. With a special gift and an unknown connection to an ancient war, Sofia will have to discover hidden secrets and face a dark force that could destroy humanity. With danger approaching, your parents will no longer be able to hide the truth from you.
The series, which SPi will produce, will begin filming soon and will be released exclusively on OPTO SIC and Prime Video later this year.
Red Moon national casting call with thousands of candidates.
The national casting call for the new characters took place this month and attracted more than 2,000 applications in just a few days, with an enthusiastic response from young people between the ages of 16 and 25. The winner will be announced very soon by the protagonists of this new production of “Red Moon: New Generation”. The best moments of the three-day in-person casting in a studio that was specially created for this purpose, and which had a shortlist of more than 50 young people from all over the country, can be seen here.
