Orquestra Bamba Social leva Carnaval com Roda de Samba à Super Bock Arena

This Carnival, Orquestra Bamba Social returns to the Super Bock Arena, in Porto, to party with its Roda de Samba formation. The occasion is scheduled for Saturday, February 10th.

The cast of 14 musicians will take the dance to the centre of the arena, in a 360º performance in the middle of the audience. In addition to inviting those present to dance, masks appropriate to the season are welcome and recommended.

Orquestra Bamba Social is a Portuguese-Brazilian collective based in Porto, united by the love of samba. Over a decade, they created their entity, where joy and festivity are a constant.

They released their first EP in 2016, produced in Rio de Janeiro by the renowned Alceu Maia, a musician and producer who accompanied several samba icons, such as Martinho da Vila, and Chico Buarque, among other references of the musical genre. In 2020, the year the pandemic broke out, the group released two albums.

The first of which, Na Fé, is an album entirely composed of original songs and features Marcelo D2, Teresa Cristina, Tiago Nacarato and André Indiana. The Samba de Bolso EP presents a beautiful journey into the daily life of samba, together with Tiago Nacarato, which featured a sold-out tour in less than 48 hours.

In 2022 they released Mundo Novo, an album recorded between Porto, Rio de Janeiro and the Netherlands, involving more than 30 musicians. The album explores other sounds and expands horizons within the Portuguese-speaking universe, also featuring appearances by Moyseis Marques, Teresa Cristina, Moacyr Luz, Nha Kapa, Tiago Nacarato, Edu Mundo and Felipe Vargas.

They have already sold out the Sala Suggia at Casa da Música in Porto several times and gave memorable concerts for thousands of people at Noite Branca de Braga and Avenida dos Aliados, where they were accompanied by Marcelo D2. They also debuted the samba circle at MEO Marés Vivas 2022, invited by Vasco Palmeirim and Rádio Comercial to compose the anthem for the 14th edition of the festival.

At the Carnival Ball scheduled for the Super Bock Arena, the Orquestra Banda Social will revisit some samba classics, giving them a new look and adding sounds from other styles such as jazz, funk and hip-hop.

The party continues into the night with guests and surprises to be announced. The invitation to those present is reiterated to bring masks and costumes and also a lot of good cheer.

Tickets are now on sale online and at the usual locations.
