Armazéns do Chiado, shopping center managed by Multi Portugal, enter 2021 with a very special gift: a project of monthly exhibitions of artistic works, available to everyone, throughout the year, in the heart of the city.
As of January 8, Friday, the shopping center opens the ARTE XXIADO project, an area dedicated to exhibitions, which will showcase works by dozens of authors, guest artists and young talents, completely free.
Joaquim Gomes, photographer, inaugurates the space with the photography exhibition “Reflexos de Lisboa Confinada” a show to visit until the 31st of January along the corridor on the 5th floor.
To start this cycle of exhibitions, Joaquim Gomes, photographer and author of the book “Instants, images that tell stories” edition 2017, debuts with a sequence of images of Lisbon confined and almost deserted of movements, in a unique setting (still desolate) of a city free of huddles and tramples. Moments of light, details and reflections of these moments, many of them instantaneous.
The space, where several names will pass, linked to multiple forms of art, “intends to contribute to the dynamism and qualification of the activity of the shopping center, offering to those who visit it, the possibility of living an immersive cultural experience – the best of expression visual and plastic, in the city center, in a unique meeting between leisure, shopping and art”, says Ricardo Esteves, Director of Armazéns do Chiado. “At a time when many restrictions still remain and when there is an extra care with all social activities, this is a way of meeting art and culture, in a safe and accessible way for everyone“, he concludes.
Operating according to the opening and closing times of the shopping center, ARTE XXIADO, is a space where art, expression, vision, and senses come together, in an unmissable encounter in what is, par excellence, the Lisbon Meeting Point!
