On the 29th of September, the 6th Lisbon Architecture Triennale begins, taking a look at the communities to which we belong to embrace the planet that is our home. How is pressure on resources, socio-economic inequalities and climate change interlinked at different scales?

The Cycles exhibition. The Architects who never threw anything away, from Garagem Sul, examines contemporary architectural and artistic practices that reflect on the art of designing cycles, addressing their investigations into the past and present of construction, its relationship with the geopolitics of extractivism and the futures of the construction industry. Moving away from linear models to the circular in contemporary architecture, Ciclos exposes architecture’s commitment to the endless process of transformation and redistribution of matter.

During its construction and again when it is demolished, a building is a shapeless mountain of different types of accumulated materials. The architectural project must therefore go beyond the organization of these elements in a certain way and also design the distribution of these resources over time, acting on the cyclical flows of materials themselves.

In addition to the exhibition Cycles. The Architects who never threw anything away, the 6th Lisbon Architecture Triennale will feature Retroactivar (MAAT), Visionaries (Culturgest), Multiplicidade (MNAC) and Independent Projects (Palácio Sinel de Cordes, Carpintarias de São Lázaro and Municipal Galleries – Avenida da India Gallery, in Lisbon, and Casa da Cerca, in Almada).
