PAUS announces the end, and with it a final album and a final tour

“We’re Staying Here” is the first single from Burial.
“Deciding to stop, deciding to die.
There’s a certain dignity in choosing our end.
PAUS is going to die, and that decision is expressed in the first single from our last album, our last tour, our last creative moment.

“We’re staying here” is everywhere they can hear music. The video is a very beautiful interpretation by André Ivo. You can see it on YouTube.
A kiss,
We’re staying here.”

Hélio Morais, Makoto Yagyu, Fábio Jevelim, and Quim Albergaria are PAUS, a band searching the space between rock, sonic experimentation, and the rhythms and keys that define a diverse and evolving Portugal.

With just a bass, keyboards, and a Siamese drum kit, they create music that insists on exploring the boundaries of genres, boasting 6 albums, 4 EPs, and hundreds of shows performed in Europe, North and South America.

The group has already graced numerous national stages, such as NOS Alive, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, Super Bock Super Rock, Vodafone Mexefest, NOS Primavera Sound, Festival F, among others.

Internationally, in addition to participating in showcase festivals such as Eurosonic (NL), Europavox (FR), MaMA (FR), SIM (BR), and SXSW (USA), they have played on major stages such as Primavera Sound in Barcelona (ES), the Live Europe house circuit, and Le Guess Who? (NL), ATP (UK), Vida Festival, Low Festival and Festival De Les Arts (ES), Bananada (BR), and Micro Fest (BL).

November 29, 2008, at number 211 Avenida da Liberdade – that was the beginning of PAUS. December 5, 2026 – that will be the end of PAUS. Everything that happened and will happen between those two dates will be the material with which Makoto Yagyu, Hélio Morais, Fábio Jevelim, and Quim Albergaria will build a final album, a final tour, and a final show. The 18 years of the Siamese drum quartet come to an end with an album, Enterro, which will be presented in a year-long funeral march on a final national and international tour. This will be the only and last opportunity for them to see the band live. Bring flowers!

It is unknown whether it is merely an announced death or the end of a work without major parallels. What is known is that this is how PAUS will write their end…
