Oscar do Vinho for Monção and Melgaço
On February 15, the magazine Vinhos – Grandes Escolhas, held in Bairrada, the annual event the ‘Oscars of Portuguese Wine’ where distinguished what is best in Portugal and who stands out in the Portuguese wine sector.
Among the trophies awarded, the 2018 Revelation Producer trophy was awarded to Miguel Queimado, producer of Alvarinhos de Monção and Melgaço.
Its selection was based on the recognition of the quality of its wines in the national and international market, as well as recognition for the work in the development of cooperation strategies between the various producers of Monção and Melgaço, within the scope of the Promotion Plan of the sub-region.
According to the producer, “It is a pride to receive the PRODUCER REVELATION 2018 prize, by the magazine Wines – Great Choices”. Miguel Queimado states that “Since we started our project we have tried to make a difference, fundamentally in the interpretation of our Terroir, but above all in stimulating cooperation between producers in our region, Monção and Melgaço.”
Adding: “This trophy is yet another example that the wine sector is attentive to Monção and Melgaço, to the impact of its producers in the market and without a doubt, this region will have place guaranteed among the best regions of white wines of the World.”
In the ‘Oscars of Portuguese Wine’, 20 trophies were awarded, such as the best producer, best company, best sommelier, best wine cellar, best wine bar, best restaurant, among others.
