P-BIO launches Clube de Mentores to boost the biotechnology sector in Portugal
The Portuguese Bioindustry Association (P-BIO) has just launched the BioMentors Club, with the aim of supporting the development of new projects and innovative start-ups in the areas of Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Participation is free.
The BioMentors Club addresses all national projects or start-ups in the Life Sciences and Biotechnology sector, especially in the areas of Biomedicine, Medtech, Biofarma, digital health, synthetic biology, agricultural, marine and industrial biotechnology.
The main objectives of the BioMentors Club are to encourage the creation and growth of companies that operate in the areas of Life Sciences and Biotechnology in the business ecosystem in Portugal; attract investment to the sector; contribute to greater awareness and impact of the sector, both nationally and internationally.
“The area of Life Sciences and Biotechnology is growing rapidly in Portugal and one of the objectives of P-BIO is to make it evolve further in the future. Through the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of greater networking, we believe that this club of mentors can be an important asset to boost some national projects”, says Simão Soares, President of P-BIO.
The BioMentors Club program is based on a mentoring plan that is tailored to each project and can last up to 18 months. Mentors are being selected among the best specialists in Portugal in Life Sciences and Biotechnology, and are chosen taking into account their area of specialization, professional experience and skills as advisers. Nuno Arantes-Oliveira, Isabel Rocha and Simão Soares are already part of the group of expert mentors.
