PACT, as an integral member of the eGames Lab consortium, a project funded by the PRR, will launch a mentoring and incentives program to boost the development of start-ups and innovative business ideas in the video games sector.
The registration period starts today and runs until May 15th. The initiative is part of a set of activities planned for this year that aim to accelerate the potential of the Gaming industry in our country, under the name Unlock – unlock your game.
“The video game industry is one of the fastest growing in the world and offers huge potential for creating new businesses and jobs,” said Soumodip Sarkar, Executive Chairman of PACT. “The xBOOST program, and all the initiatives that we will promote within the scope of Unlock, arises as a response to this dynamic, seeking to empower Portuguese entrepreneurs and contribute to the development of the Gaming ecosystem in Portugal.”
xBOOST offers an intensive acceleration path, with expert mentoring, workshops, access to resources and networking opportunities. Gamer Ric Fazeres is one of the project’s mentors and the best idea will win a trip to Silicon Valley, in California (USA), the “cradle” of the world’s biggest startups.
“We will mobilize, excite and allow access to know-how from specialized mentors so that entrepreneurs can evolve and make their idea ‘get off the ground'”, says Soumodip Sarkar, for whom PACT’s objective in carrying out this program “was not to create just another acceleration program, but rather to invest in an initiative that produces concrete results and that these translate into added value for the technological development of the country and of Alentejo in particular”.
Who can apply?
xBOOST is open to anyone with a great idea in the video game industry, including:
- Students
- Entrepreneurs
- Employees of established startups (the only requirement is that the startups must be less than two years old).
“We believe there is a lot of talent in Portugal with brilliant ideas for games. xBOOST wants to be the platform that gives them the boost they need to ‘get in the game’ and turn their passions into viable businesses”, concludes the executive president of PACT.
