Paddlers Pedro Fraga and Inês Oliveira are national speed champions

The paddlers Pedro Fraga and Inês Oliveira today confirmed their favoritism and became Portuguese champions of speed, in skiff, in a race that took place in Montemor-o-Velho.

Sporting’s Olympic athlete completed the 2,000 meters of the race in 6.57.48 minutes, while his teammates, athletes from CN Setubalense, Afonso Costa and Dinis Costa, reached five and nine seconds, respectively.

Pedro Fraga, 28, and Afonso Costa, 24, will try in April, in Varese, Italy, to secure one of the two European spots left for the Tokyo2020 Olympic Games, in the light double scull in which the young Dinis Costa is substitute .

In his last under-23 year, Inês Oliveira, from Sport Clube do Porto, prevailed at 7.59.60, followed by Inês Branco, from Infante, with nine more seconds, and Carla Fernandes, from Cerveira, at 22 seconds .

Sporting Club Caminhense won the Lisbon Cup, which the rowing federation believes is the oldest trophy in Portuguese sport.
