Palmeiras loses the Brazilian Super Cup with Flamengo in a final with 18 penalties
Abel Ferreira lost the opportunity to win another title for Palmeiras when he was defeated by Flamengo, on penalties (6-5, after 2-2 at the end of the 90 minutes), in the Brazil Super Cup.
The Portuguese coach was expelled from the bench, on 38 minutes, for protests with the referee, when the marker scored equality to a goal. Raphael Veiga advanced the verdict just after two minutes, while Gabigol equalized on 23 minutes.
Upon the whistle for the break, however, Arrascaeta led a turnaround for Flamengo, canceled out about 15 minutes to the end in a penalty converted by Raphael Veiga.
In the penalty shootout, Palmeiras came to the front by 3-1, with Flamengo wasting two shots initially, but ended up winning 6-5, celebrating the trophy for the second consecutive year.
