Pandemic crisis does not suspend Estoril Sol Fernando Namora Literary Prize

For the promotion of Portuguese Letters, Estoril Sol renews, this year, the award of the Fernando Namora Literary Prize, despite the pandemic crisis of Covid-19 that plagues the Country and the World.

The deadline for receiving the competing tureworks ends this year, exceptionally, on the 31st of July, taking into account the phase of progressive deflation that the country is still going through.

With a prestigious Jury chaired by Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins, the Fernando Namora Literary Prize, in its 23rd edition, aims to award a work of fiction (novel or novel), by Portuguese author, published in 2019, since the writer has not been awarded in the previous three editions. Established by Estoril Sol in 1988, this prestigious award has a monetary value of 15 thousand euros, and is annual.

Julieta Monginho was the winner, unanimously by the jury, in 2019, with her novel “Um Muro no Meio do Caminho”. It should be noted that Mário de Carvalho (1996 and 2008) and Teolinda Gersão (2001 and 2015) were twice awarded.

In previous editions, were also distinguished João de Melo, Maria Isabel Barreno, Urbano Tavares Rodrigues, Manuel Alegre, Armando Silva Carvalho, António Lobo Antunes, Nuno Júdice, Miguel Real, Mário Cláudio, Luísa Costa Gomes, Gonçalo M. Tavares, Paulo Castilho, José Eduardo Agualusa, Bruno Vieira do Amaral, Afonso Cruz, Ana Cristina Silva and Carlos Vale Ferraz.
