Papillon and T-Rex at the end of the school year at the Liberdade Festival, in the municipality of Seixal

This year, Seixal marks the end of the school year with the Liberdade Festival, in the Quinta da Marialva Urban Park, in Corroios, on June 15th, starting at 10 am, and features the artists T-Rex and Papillon as headliners poster.

The finalists of Canta! – Interschool Competition for Musical and Presenter Talents, the musical group from Escola Secundária de Amora and the Clave project from Escola Secundária Manuel Cargaleiro. Entry is free.

«It is with great satisfaction that we welcome the Liberdade Festival to the municipality of Seixal, an event held with and for youth, which values ​​and promotes their ideas and projects and which enhances the debate on youth policies in the region and in the country. It is with even greater satisfaction that we see the young people from the municipality of Seixal – Canta finalists! and bands from secondary schools – taking to the main stage of the event and thus making themselves known to the thousands of young people who will be participating in the event. It is with these policies that we value our young people and invest in their future», considers the president of the Seixal City Council, Paulo Silva.

The 9th edition of the festival involves the involvement of more than 250 young people in its construction and more than fifty initiatives, in the areas of music, dance, theatre, visual arts and sport, promoted by young people from the Setúbal region and by the youth association movement. The initiatives will take place in different spaces of the event, which will run until 2 am.

At Espaço Juventude, there will be around twelve performances, from theatre, music, dance of different styles, and urban art performances, among others. At Espaço Igualdade, a great dynamic is expected, with the participation of twelve young DJs who will have the opportunity to show their creativity and ability to entertain the public during the festival. On Palco Paz, eight musical projects from Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra and Setúbal will appear, representing and celebrating the musical diversity that exists in the region.

At the Arte em Liberdade exhibition, dedicated to visual arts, visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate various works created by young artists and at Espaço Desporto it will be possible to see and participate in different sporting activities, from the most radical to the most traditional, organized by the Association All aBoard, by the Federation of Collectives of the District of Setúbal, by the Municipality of Seixal and by the youth association movement.

The Associative Exhibition will feature around two dozen associative structures that represent the diversity of youth in the region, including party youth, student associations, cultural associations and those for the promotion of citizenship and peace.

One of the essences of the festival is to provide spaces for debate and sharing of experiences between youth associative structures and, therefore, under the motto “50 years of the 25th of April, Youth and Associative”, the Meeting of the Youth Associative Movement of Region of Setúbal, between 10:30 and 13:00, at Espaço Juventude, and the opening includes the presentation of an excerpt from the play «Palavras de Abril», performed by the theatre group Artes e Magia from the Centro Cultural e Recreativo do Alto do Moinho.

The initiative is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.
