During this school year, the Generation Orchestra has adopted distance learning to continue its mission of promoting social inclusion and combating school failure and dropout, through orchestral practice. The creation of a digital platform, constantly fed with pedagogical material created by teachers, the continuation of music practice, individually and together, through online classes, and teacher training courses, in the methodology of music teaching as a social action, are just a few examples of the efforts of this project.
“It is very important to see all of our efforts being recognized by our Sovereign Bodies. In recent months, the Generation Orchestra has been resilient and able to face the biggest obstacles, achieving great achievements. This recognition proves that the work we have been doing is significant and it gives us motivation to continue reaching more children and young people”, says the Director of the Geração Orchestra, António Wagner Diniz.
The project also donated computers and tablets, with the support of Sponsors, such as the BNP Paribas Foundation, Santander Portugal and Worten, and Computer Solidário, to a certain number of students with urgent needs, allowing them to support the continuation of their studies. .
Recently, the project has been present in several initiatives of the Assembly of the Republic, in meetings of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and of the Attorney General’s Office, in meetings of the Think Tank initiative, through video concerts, giving visibility to the project across borders.
