Alice in Wonderland-inspired Easter at Quinta Valle de Passos
Valpaços, a municipality in the Terra Quente region of Trás-os-Montes, has a fascinating hotel complex where you can enjoy a well-deserved break for some rest this Easter.
It is called Olive Nature Hotel & Spa and is built in Quinta Valle de Passos, formerly Quinta Dona Adelaide, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and other fruit trees. The hotel’s proposal involves walking or cycling around the entire farm, but the «Easter Traditions Program» is much more complete than that. So, let’s take it one step at a time.
There are three days to remember, between April 18th and 20th, in a program inspired by the classic “Alice in Wonderland”. On Friday (18), after settling into one of the generous rooms at the Olive Nature Hotel & Spa, guests will have access to an egg painting and Alice in Wonderland mask workshop, ideal for younger guests.
Saturday afternoon will be filled with tasting of cold cuts and Quinta Valle de Passos wines (optional program, at a cost of 25 euros per person) and a movie session of Alice in Wonderland, with popcorn.
At Sunday lunch (20), after an Easter egg hunt in the hotel garden – for the youngest guests –, guests and visitors are invited to let themselves be won over by the rich gastronomy of Trás-os-Montes, interpreted by chef Adão Costa, who designed the menu for this special date.
The menu costs 35 euros per person, with a selection of drinks included, consisting of a sausage board and chicken soup preceding the main course (cod au gratin with mashed potatoes or oven-roasted goat with potatoes and turnip greens) and dessert, a deliciously moist sponge cake with buttery Serra cheese.
Alongside the “Easter Traditions Programme”, Quinta Valle de Passos also offers a visit to the Olive Spa to enjoy the “Chocolate Serenity” treatment, a massage that combines the nourishing benefits of grape seed oil with the enveloping sweetness of chocolate essence. The treatment ends with an infusion of aromatic herbs and some chocolates to accompany it, lasting 75 minutes and costing 100 euros per person.
