The Canadian artist is back on the Portuguese stage, there were two nights at Lisboa ao Vivo and today you can see him at Hard Club.
Patrick Watson has a long relationship with Portugal and Portuguese artists, the artist confessed that he already missed Portugal and that it was one of the first places on tour where he truly felt at home.
The tour will present the 2022 album Better in The Shade, and as usual, it has the presence of a Portuguese artist this year, Gisela João, together they sang “Se Tu Soubesses” and “A Mermaid in Lisboa” from the EP with the same name that has the collaboration of Teresa Salgueiro and with whom she sang at the Coliseu de Lisboa in 2020.
Born in Lancaster, California, to Canadian parents, Watson was raised in Hudson, Quebec, attended Lower Canada College and studied music at Vanier College in Montreal.
Watson co-wrote and performed on several songs on The Cinematic Orchestra’s 2007 album Ma Fleur, including the opening track, “To Build a Home”, the remix of Champion’s “Guy Doune” reached number 1 on CBC Radio 3 at the beginning of 2007.
He participated in the tours of artists such as John Cale, Cold War Kids, Amon Tobin and Feist, later forming a group with guitarist Simon Angell, percussionist Robbie Kuster and bassist Mishka Stein and featuring James Brown, Philip Glass and The Stills.
His album Close to Paradise, won the Polaris Music Prize in 2007, and his most recent album, titled Better in the Shade, continues to showcase his unique blend of genres and thought-provoking lyrics.
The first part was handled by Hohnen Ford, a Londoner who grew up immersed in London’s vibrant jazz scene, settling into 20th-century instrumental jazz music and later studying Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music.
During his time at the Royal Academy, Hohnen Ford wrote and collaborated with several bands in the UK, whilst developing his sound, inspired by the compositions of Joni Mitchell, Bjork, David Longstreth, Stevie Wonder, Big Thief, Gillian Welch and the composers of the Great American Songbook.
While writing and recording his debut album, Hohnen Ford made his beautiful songs and sweet voice known online to a growing number of followers, many of whom, based on the reaction of the public at LAV, are Portuguese.
