Pedro Burmester live with the “Goldberg Variations” by J.S. Bach
Goldberg Burmester Cycle
After the release in October of last year of the album Variações Goldberg, by J.S. Bach, by Artway Next, renowned pianist Pedro Burmester now presents this work live in the Goldberg Cycle.
The first show takes place on April 11th, at 9 pm at the Igreja Matriz de Loures. On the 24th and 25th of May, it will be the turn of Casa de Mateus in Vila Real, at 7 pm. It is worth highlighting on the 24th, at 6 pm, a conversation with the pianist before the performance. On June 28th, at 9:30 pm, Burmester will perform at the Alcobaça Monastery. On October 18th, he will take to the stage at the Casa de Bragança Foundation, at 6 pm, in Vila Viçosa. And on January 30, 2026, the pianist takes the Goldberg Cycle to the Belém Cultural Center, in Lisbon.
In the words of Valter Hugo Mãe, who wrote the program notes for the album, “Pedro Burmester’s brilliant return to the Goldberg Variations is like that of a wise man ready to return home. Bach’s magnificent work now finds the pianist in an interpretation that can only be achieved by someone who has matured and who now traverses the musical monument with pure intuition. This album is the meeting of the perfect: Bach and Burmester. The centuries disappear so that the two can unite as parts of the same intelligence. One that risks everything, because what existed was little. There needed to be much more.”
It is worth mentioning that Pedro Burmester has been nominated for the Play Awards in the category of Best Classical and Classical Music Album with the album “Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach.
