Pedro Burmester performs at Palácio da Galeria as part of the “Verão em Tavira” festival

Tavira organizes another edition of the “Verão em Tavira” (“Summer in Tavira”) festival to liven up the hot summer nights of residents and visitors with a diverse cultural program, during the month of August and early September. Pedro Burmester presented himself on the Terrace of the Museum of the Gallery, last Wednesday, August 18th.

The Portuguese pianist and composer gave us the most beautiful compositions and a brilliant performance in an exclusive and completely sold out venue in Tavira.

Born in Porto, Pedro Burmester began his concert activity at the age of 10 and, since then, has performed over a thousand solo concerts, with an orchestra and in various chamber music formations, in Portugal and abroad. Collaborations with conductors Manuel Ivo Cruz, Miguel Graça Moura, Álvaro Cassuto, Omri Hadari, Gabriel Chmura, Muhai Tang, Lothar Zagrosek, Michael Zilm, Frans Brüggen, Georg Solti, Leopold Hager, Baldur Brӧnnimann and Peter Rundel are noteworthy. Currently, in addition to his artistic activity, he is a professor at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), in Porto.

The next concerts of the festival “Verão em Tavira” are by Carlão, on August 21st, Miramar with Frankie Chavez and Peixe, on the 27th, and The Black Mamba, on the 28th. In September, fado is highlighted with the concerts by Fábia Rebordão, on the 2nd, and by Sara Correia, on the 4th. The festival will be closed by the Portuguese band Amor Electro, on the 5th of September. Check out the full program here!

During this period, handicraft fairs return, in the garden of palm trees, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 6 pm, organized by the associations ASTA, Almadrava and Albacora with the support of the Municipality.

This year’s edition of “Verão em Tavira” aims to ensure regular programming and represents an investment by the municipality in the economy and culture, through the contracting of numerous services and support for artistic projects at local, regional, and national levels.
