Pedro Flores presents his first album

Maria Matos Theater

Pedro Flores presented his first album at Maria Matos, a new voice, which sings the songs of famous voices such as Tony de Matos, Francisco José, Rui de Mascarenhas, among others.

Pedro Flores started the concert with “Look for and don’t find you” and “Leonor” but he did not fail to thank the audience, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it’s a dream come true, and there are many people here who know it, and thank you for being part of this first stone on this path”.

Teatro Maria Matos was full to receive Pedro, many Portuguese and Spanish friends and family, who, full of pride, and no wonder, applauded the singer from the first to the last minute. Pedro was born in Lisbon on December 25, 1991 and his entire personal journey was marked by the importance that music played in his family, Pedro mentions that “music came very early in my life, in a family with my parents and my brothers, but it was in fado houses and singing Sinatra songs at my mother’s restaurant that I developed my music…”

The fado houses and trips to Spain, especially his maternal grandmother’s house in Madrid, who came from Spain on purpose, and on his birthday at the Maria Matos concert, Pedro grew up to the sound of the great boleros and singers of flamenco, so he decided to include “Te extraño”, by a great Mexican musician, Armando Manzanero, who sang, in the company of his friend Manuel de Oliveira, on the piano, but also on Fado, he doesn’t hide his influences, which range from Carlos Ramos to João Ferreira Rosa, passed by Carlos do Carmo, Camané and Ricardo Ribeiro.

Pedro Flores, found the themes of this record, an old repertoire that was in a trunk “timeless songs with lyrics that talk about love from the 60s, where you lived more intensely, not by emojis and instagram, you lived by letter” repertoire in which “Tony de Matos, Francisco José and Rui de Mascarenhas” stand out and thus invited all present to take a trip to the past.

The singer followed the concert with “Despe-te agora, followed by “Última Lágrima” by Matias Damásio, before moving on to the next song Pedro explained its origins, “Miguel Araújo wrote to me on Instagram… saying that he liked it a lot of my voice and music, and I, with some boldness, asked him to make me a song that he said – of course he did – he was immediately enthusiastic…” Miguel then asked him “what theme would you like that I write?”. Pedro Flores then explained “…I’m going to be 30 this year, on December 25th, and I don’t feel like an adult, this age thing doesn’t correspond to my mind, and he wrote me this song”, “Sagittarius”.

It was with his composition that he followed “Caso contigo” then “Vida nova” and ended with “Última Lágrima”, a concert in which he had the company of excellent musicians, on Portuguese guitar Pedro Viana, on viola and electric guitar Bernardo Viana, on bass Frederico Gato and Miroca Paris on percussion, in the company of an audience that filled Maria Matos with applause, and brought home happiness and a heart full of love.
