The journey started a little while ago, but Pedro Sampaio has already conquered fans all over the place. At the age of 13, Pedro already liked the “batuques”. As a joke, he started by discovering his talent for percussion while playing on a bucket. Afterward, he convinced his father to buy a series of instruments that encouraged him even more. Until he was discovered by Victor Junior when he played as a DJ at a family friend’s party. From then on, he began to dedicate himself more and more to his talent, and, at the age of 17, he definitely joined the Dennis DJ group of artists.
It has as references names like Diplo, Marshmallow, and Dennis, of course. It is inspired by these artists, but drinks from the sound innovations that are emerging all over the world. In early 2018 he released “EITA!”, featuring singer Jhama. The theme was a success and confirmed the best expectations regarding Pedro Sampaio. Then he released the song “BOTA PRA TREMER”, a theme that caused a bang on the internet, receiving the attention of influencers, youtubers and also the general public. And since then, it has never stopped growing and surprising.
The hits “GALOPA” and “DANÇARINA”, released in 2021, are part of Pedro Sampaio’s first album entitled “Chama Meu Nome”. The single “GALOPA” reached the TOP 3 on Spotify Brazil, in addition to being in the TOP 50 of the platform’s international chart, with the 46th position among the most listened-to songs in the world. With 11 tracks, this record has the special participation of Anitta, Luísa Sonza, Ferrugem, Zé Vaqueiro, MC Don Juan, MC Pedrinho, MC Jefinho, Mateca and KVSH, and brings together addictive funk beats, the contagious rhythm of piseiro and forró, and a dash of reggaeton.
Right after its debut, “Chama Meu Nome” became the fastest Brazilian pop album to reach the milestone of 200 million streams on Spotify. Today, Pedro Sampaio is a very strong figure on social networks, with 5.9 million followers on TikTok, 5.2 million followers on Instagram, more than 7 million monthly listeners on Spotify, in addition to having 3.8 million subscribers to his YouTube channel (gathering over 1 billion views of his videos).
In Portugal, the phenomenon is confirmed. Pedro Sampaio has 13 platinum awards for his singles and has been a regular presence in the tops, namely with the theme “DANÇARINA” which stayed at more than 20 weeks at #1 on the official singles chart, thus constituting a new record, and reaching to have multiple top 10 singles.
These are the truly impressive numbers of this Brazilian sensation, who will once again visit Portugal in 2023, for two concerts in his own name: on April 14th, at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, and on April 16th, at the Altice Forum Braga.
