Penafiel to award city gold medal to Abel Ferreira
The Penafiel Chamber proposed the award of the city’s gold medal and the title of honorary citizen to the soccer coach Abel Ferreira, who won the Copa Libertadores de Futebol, in charge of Palmeiras.
The Mayor of Penafiel, Antonino Sousa, said that these duties to Abel Ferreira, who was born in the municipality on December 22, 1978, were approved this afternoon at a meeting of the executive and will now be taken to the Municipal Assembly.
After the game that Palmeiras won 1-0 against Santos, in the final of the Libertadores Cup, the Mayor of Penafiel, in the district of Porto, congratulated the coach on behalf of all Penafidelense.
On social networks, the mayor said, it was also possible to see the countless congratulations that Abel Ferreira received and the surge of pride of his fellow citizens.
