Perpétua reveal their first single “Condição” from the debut album “Esperar Pra Ver”

“Condição” was the song chosen to present Perpétua because it is the song that best reflects the band because it synthesizes the various aspects present in the album and because it was the first that the band composed together, thus gaining a special place in the near future. history of the band. It made sense, being the first, to be the first to be shown.

Thematically it is a somewhat introspective song. In the first verse there is an awareness of the posture adopted by the subject. This is automatically reversed in the second half of the first verse, when the security of “having both feet flat on the floor” is replaced by the contradiction in your sentences or the opposite of your step.

In the face of disgust, how many ever resort to a little liquid courage? This is evident in the second half of the song, culminating in the chorus, in which the subject expresses a mixture of shame, vulnerability, disgust, and lack.

This process is something that happens at least once in a lifetime to almost everyone, and is also another reason that led to the choice of this single.

As for the video accompanying the song, made by Bernardo Limas, it was always intended to have something aesthetically strong and sufficiently identity. The choice of Aveiro salt pans happens precisely because of this. It is a beautiful place, geometric and with natural colors and automatically refers to the region of origin of Perpétua. It is a blink of an eye to the people of Aveiro and an invitation to visit people from outside.

The album Esperar Pra Ver began to be thought of when the band was formed. With some ideas already in place, it was clear that the following sound would be within the scope of what is now called indie music. Although the band’s elements have very different references, there are also artists around whom their admiration gravitates in the same way, with bands such as Parcels or Men I Trust standing out. Throughout 2020 it was composed and recorded by all members of the band, produced, mixed and mastered by Rúben and Xavier, with help to the production of Beatriz and Diogo.
