Photobiographical route of Vieira da Silva on display at ArrábidaShopping
Between 1 August and 5 September, ArrábidaShopping will receive a photobiographical exhibition of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992), one of the Portuguese contemporary artists with a higher prominence in the international panorama of art. The entrance to the show is free and will be patent at the pop up gallery of the shopping center, which is located on the floor 1.
“FotoBiographical course of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva” is an exhibition of the Arpad Szenes – Vieira da Silva Foundation that will rely on about 28 panels of one by a meter who transport visitors to the artist’s life and work.
The show contemplates photographs of the artist’s career and excerpts from letters that attest to some peculiarities of her course. There will also be exposed excerpts from allusive newspaper clippings to specific periods of the artist’s life, as well as reproductions of sketches, skirtings and works that were fundamental in their route.
For Tomás Furtado, director of ArrábidaShopping, “It is an honor for the center to serve as a stage to present the route of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, one of the most important artists in our country. Receiving this exhibition also reinforced the path of ArrábidaShopping in making art and culture more accessible to the Portuguese.”
FotiBiography is part of the “Cultura in Downtown” initiative, the Sonae Sierra project that aims to support artists and national entities of cultural scope. Throughout 2021, various artistic activities and movements will be carried out in the commercial centers managed by the group, in order to make culture accessible to all.
