Piaget offers books to lessen the effects of confinement

This week, the Piaget Institute of Viseu will offer books to six partner institutions in the region that have users in confinement, as a result of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

The initiative is based on the awareness of the importance of reading for the preservation and enhancement of mental health in times of emergency, helping to mitigate the negative effects of a period of greater demand and greater social isolation.

Each institution will receive 25 books, all edited by Edições Piaget, which were at the service of the Campus de Viseu. The works offered cover the various areas of knowledge and knowledge in which Piaget Editions have specialized throughout its existence.

The selection of the six social solidarity institutions took into account the close relationship maintained by Piaget de Viseu with the surrounding community, either because they are entities where students do their internships, where teachers also collaborate or where former students of the Institute take on today steering functions. It is open to the possibility of continuing the initiative in the coming weeks, with the offer of more books with the Piaget seal.

The institutions included in this phase are the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Castro Daire, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vouzela, IPSS Acredita, the ASDCR Home of Silgueiros, the Nelas Parish Center and the Farminhão Social Solidarity Association.

This activity of “Piaget Solidário” at the Viseu Campus follows another one, also carried out in a time of pandemic, together with the Banco Alimentar, namely through the collection of food among the academic community. The collection of goods will be repeated in March, this time in partnership with Cáritas de Viseu.
