Pichardo in the final of the triple jump
Portuguese Pedro Pablo Pichardo is in the final of the Olympic Games triple jump competition, from which Nélson Évora was eliminated, as well as rookie Tiago Pereira.
Pichardo, born in Cuba and naturalized Portuguese in 2017, ensured his presence in the final, scheduled for Thursday, at 11 locations (3 am in Lisbon), with 17.71 meters, the best mark in qualifying.
Nélson Évora, in his fourth appearance at the Games (won gold in 2008), did not do better than 15.39 meters, while Tiago Pereira registered 16.71.
