The Spanish lyric tenor Plácido Domingo performed in Lisbon for a fantastic concert, accompanied by the Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, and with several guests, including his son, Plácido Domingo Jr., the soprano Mané Galoyan and the Portuguese fado singer Kátia Guerreiro.
Plácido Domingo, who has already turned 82, continues to display a unique vocal capacity, even though he sings fewer songs in a row, he enchants every time he takes the stage. Altice received the tenor with a well-composed house, where he performed several well-known areas with soprano Mané Galoyan, in the first part, such as “Nemico della Patria” by Umberto Giordano, “Senza mamma” by Giacomo Puccini, “O vin, dissipe la sadness” by Ambroise Thomas, “Depuis le jour” by Gustave Charpentier and “Mira, d’acerbe lagrime”, from the opera Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi.
The second part with a lighter repertoire, always accompanied by the Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra, made up of 65 musicians, performed, among others, “Luche la fe por el trio” by Federico Moreno-Torroba and “Quiero Desterrar” by Soutullo y Vert.
Plácido Domingo then introduced his first guest, Plácido Domingo Jr. who performed “Sabor a Mi” by Álvaro Carrillo alone and then called his father, together they sang, “Adoro” by Armanso Manzanero.
The Spanish tenor then called the second guest, Kátia Guerreiro, who Plácido announced as “the extraordinary Portuguese artist” who was accompanied on the Portuguese guitar by Pedro Castro, André Ramos on the fado guitar and on the bass guitar by Frederico Gato.
Kátia Guerreiro, one of the best Portuguese fado singers, first performed “Asas” alone and then “Foi Deus” and “Coimbra” in the company of the Maestro. The fado singer then said that opera singers have tried to sing fado on several occasions. Still, they say it is difficult, “For this reason, tonight, we owe an ‘Ahhh Fadista!’ to the maestro!” added Katia.
A fantastic concert, by Plácido Domingo and his brilliant guests, produced by CV Music, which ended with everyone on stage to perform “Besame mucho” by Consuelo Velazquez.
