Poetry battle promoted in Coimbra
In the first Slam das Minas of Portugal, poets can only recite authorial poems, and each poem can have a maximum of three minutes.
The presentation of the Slam das Minas will be in charge of Maria Giulia Pinheiro, who won the fourth place in the Poetry Slam World Cup 2020.
The calibration poem – a performance performed to exemplify what ‘slam’ is and calibrate the jury’s notes – will be performed by poet and ‘slamer’ Luciana do Carmo, winner of PoetrySlam Coimbra in 2017.
The winner of the Slam das Minas of Portugal will have a guaranteed spot in the National Poetry Slam Festival of Portugal 2020, which will bring together participants from all over the country and will also take place in Coimbra, in November.
The winner or national winner wins a spot at the PoetrySlam World Cup, to be held in Paris in 2021.
Slam das Minas is co-organized by women from the Writing and Reading Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra, from the Union of Alternative Women and Coimbra Response and from the republics of Marias do Loureiro and Rosa Luxemburgo.
